Jim Hoehn: Music

Wait 'til the Movie Comes Out

(Jim Hoehn)
Jim Hoehn

A cemetery in the daytime is a quiet, tranquil place
With fresh-mowed lawns and fresh-cut flowers arranged in a concrete vase
I never thought that lawn care mattered much to those who've died
At night it's still a creepy place no matter who you know inside

    (chorus)
It's a different point of view, perspective they say
Some see black, some see white, others shades of gray
If in between the two extremes is what this life is all about
It might be a whole lot easier to wait 'til the movie comes out

It's a little misunderstanding, there's no need to shout
In my opinion you don't know what the hell you're talking about
And the rumors that I'm spreading is not the gossip that you've heard
And the juicy details I've implied is not the slander you inferred

The same Top 40 songs are pounding in my brain
A lifelong sentence in the radio jail for the musically inane
I prefer those love songs with lyrics left unsaid
And I tune in and sing along to the melodies in your head

    (chorus)
It's a different point of view, perspective they say
Some see black, some see white, others shades of gray
If in between the two extremes is what this life is all about
It might be a whole lot easier to wait 'til the movie comes out

    (instrumental break)

It's rated G for "Gee whiz, I don't know what to think"
And PG's Pretty Goofy, like when you've too much to drink
And there's R, you sure, this won't be misconstrued
And there's X for sex 'cause I suspect somehow I'm gettin' screwed

    (chorus)
It's a different point of view, perspective they say
Some see black, some see white, others shades of gray
If in between the two extremes is what this life is all about
It might be a whole lot easier to wait 'til the movie comes out

And we'll share the large buttered popcorn
